On Monday night I managed to get last minute tickets for the US Open Mens Tennis Final at Flushing Meadow.
I went with Thomas my assistant ( who’d never been to a tennis match in his life before) and after a spectacular 4 hours and 54 minute match Andy Murray came through a five set thrilling match to finally win his first major grand slam title.
Now, as you may or may not know I’m a huge tennis- hence the tennis academy blog for Vogue magazine last month, ( see previous blog posts) so I felt so honoured and proud to see Andy win this tournament. The first British man in 76 years to win a grand slam final.
I’ve painstakingly sat through his previous 4 grand slam finals on TV that he lost (3 to the legend Roger Federer and 1 to Novak Djokovic, who was his victim this time around), and also watched him win the Gold Medal at the Olympics on TV in Spain whilst on the tennis camp, so to be there and watch him win this one live was amazing. I cannot tell you how much I shouted, punched the air, clapped and cheered throughout the almost 5 hour match- which I’m convinced helped him along- but anyway, he’s done it and I just wanted to share with you the moment within a few pics I took whilst I was there, including one I managed to take of a guy with a brilliant Hi-top hairdo…. ( I’m always thinking hair somewhere along the line!!!!)
So let’s hear it for Andy…… Hip Hip Hooray!!!!- WELL DONE ANDERS MUZZA !!!!
