EDITORIAL ARCHIVE MILAN FASHION WEEK SPECIAL

Photographs Corinne Day for Italian Vogue with model Carol Sippel, Styling Cathy Kasterine, Make-up Sam Bryant.

With the start of Milan fashion week I’m celebrating with one of my favourite shoots I worked on for Italian Vogue.

So the original idea for this shoot was a 60’s Twiggy inspired idea. The model Carol Sippel arrived with below shoulder length hair and i’d prepared some wigs for the shoot a few days before. The wigs were Twiggy-esque but when we put them on Carol, for some reason they just didn’t suit her in the style of Twiggy. So Corinne and I discussed that we needed to make it look much more modern, so I proceeded to chop the wig shorter and shorter so she basically became a punkish Twiggy. Suddenly Carol came alive and looked amazing and I remember when the shoot was published, Carol’s agents were getting phone calls asking if she’d cut her hair off……. If only she had!!

Anyway, these still remain some of my favourite pictures of Carol who I worked with on other occasions. It was like we’d brought Twiggy from the 60’s and threw her right into the noughties…….
